HMAC-SHA-256

Intrinsic-ID’s HMAC-SHA-256 core is a highly efficient hardware IP core implementing the keyed version of the Secure Hash Algorithm Standard (SHA) in compliance with Federal Information Processing Standards FIPS PUB 198. It hashes messages in combination with a secret key in order to authenticate messages between parties sharing the same key.

Functionality:

Keyed-Hash functionality for secure and efficient message authentication

Advantages:

  • Keyed-Hash Standard
  • FIPS PUB 198 compliant
  • High speed secure hardware message authentication
  • Low gate count
  • Seamless integration with Intrinsic-ID Quiddikey™ and iRNG IP products

Applications:

HMAC-SHA-256 can be used in a number of devices and applications, coming from the field of smart card technology, automotive, government & military communication systems, content protection and more:

  • smart cards
  • microcontrollers
  • routers and other network devices
  • for one-way key derivation functions
