Authentication is the process by which communicating devices identify each other and verify their identity to each other. Because IoT and other deployments consist of many interconnected and distributed endpoints that need to communicate, it is critical that IoT device and system manufacturers ensure the authenticity of their devices, software and data gathered by sensors, by a method of authentication that is both reliable and scalable.

Intrinsic ID’s SRAM PUF-based approach to authentication is designed to keep pace with the growing demand for authentication, from consumable to device and from device to cloud. Traditional methods are either insufficiently secure or excessively expensive, imposing a requirement for additional authentication chips and driving a Total Cost of Ownership incompatible with the IoT environment.
