What is Intrinsic ID? Are you a cybersecurity company?

We are an IP vendor and embedded security company, specializing in authentication technologies that protect Internet of Things devices and payment transactions; ensure safe connectivity; authenticate sensors and semiconductor chips; and protect sensitive military data & systems. Our approach is based on patented techniques in SRAM PUF.

What is SRAM PUF?

A Physical Unclonable Function, or PUF, is a rapidly growing approach for cryptographic key storage. A PUF is a physical structure of a device that is difficult to clone because of its inherent, device-unique and deep-submicron process variations. In particular, SRAM PUF uses the behavior of standard SRAM memory, available in any digital chip, to create a digital fingerprint to differentiate chips from each other. Because an SRAM PUF is virtually impossible to duplicate, clone or predict, they are very suitable for applications such as secure key generation and storage, device authentication, flexible key provisioning and chip asset management.

Do other companies offer PUF technology?

Intrinsic ID offers SRAM PUF, Butterfly PUF, and Buskeeper PUF. Other implementations of PUF measure resistance in modified silicon, which requires silicon change and renders the key susceptible to temperature/voltage variations. Another approach to PUF is based on ring oscillator or arbiter circuits. These also require a silicon change and do not easily scale across manufacturing nodes.

What can Intrinsic ID‘s technology be used for?

The most important use cases include Secure Key Storage, Authentication, Flexible Key Provisioning, Anti-Counterfeiting and Supply Chain Protection.

Do you sell software? Hardware?

Intrinsic ID licenses PUF-based hardware IP and also sells software solutions based on SRAM PUF technology.

What are Intrinsic ID’s products?

  • QuiddiKey X00: A hardware (RTL) IP solution for secure key creating, wrapping and management that dynamically reconstructs on-chip secret keys without ever storing those keys.
  • Zign X00: Embedded software solutions for secure key creating, wrapping and management that dynamically reconstructs on-chip secret keys without ever storing those keys. Zign provides symmetric and asymmetric crypto functionality.
  • Apollo: A trust anchor on Xilinx FPGAs that binds sensitive data, such as FPGA bitstream, designs, IP and encryption keys to the hardware of the FPGA
  • Zign RNG: The only NIST-certified random number generator in software.

Can I use Intrinsic ID to enhance the security for products I have already deployed?
